Real Aspen Wedding Celebration

Bride and Groom: Elizabeth Campbell and Ken Campbell

Tell us about your wedding story –

Ken and I met in the elevator of our office building. I immediately fell in love with his smile and dimples and knew at that exact moment that he would be someone super special in my life.

Aspen Mountain Wedding

Being the outgoing person that I am, I invited Ken to come play pingpong at our office with a few friends for happy hour! Being the shy guy, he is, he never came. I knew what I wanted and did not give up! Ken took the stairs to avoid me, and I rode the elevator as often as I could in hopes of bumping into him again. Finally, the day I had been praying for arrived; we rode the elevator together and Ken asked me out on a date! We quickly became inseparable best friends, and ultimately began to fall in love. We had the most adventurous dating life, filled with climbing mountains and glaciers, riding horses, cruising around the Caribbean, attending countless concerts, and falling in love in our favorite place on earth, Aspen. I knew from the moment I saw Ken’s bright smile that he was the one, but it took Ken a few more years to be so sure. While I was rehearsing and doing my bridesmaids duties for my best friend’s wedding, Ken finally had that moment of clarity, and was sure. He has since shared with me that at that moment, he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, and immediately called his best friend and jeweler to begin making me my dream engagement ring. Ken proposed on the 4th of July on top of the Ute Trail rock lookout in Aspen, and I squealed with excitement and screened yes! Ken had arranged for our families to be there, and it was such a special day filled with so much love and excitement! Easily one of my favorite days of my life!

Where did you have your ceremony? The Little Nell Wedding Deck – Aspen, CO

How did you decide on this location? The moment Ken proposed on the Ute Trail rock lookout, it seemed obvious that we should get married in an equally beautiful place in Aspen surrounded by breathtaking views of mountains, valleys and trees.

Where did you have your reception? The Little Nell – Terrace Room

How did you decide on The Little Nell – Terrace Room for your reception? Ever since Ken and I started traveling to Aspen together, the place we fell in love, we would always visit the flower wall at The Little Nell terrace and pool area. I found the flower wall to be so beautiful, and a natural floral decoration that I knew everyone would love. It absolutely helped that I’m crazy about flowers!

Where did you have book your accommodations? Aspen Square

What was the mood at your wedding? The mood at our wedding was pure joy and happiness. There was so much love in the air, and we were all floating on cloud 9! The theme of our wedding was “Connected By Love”, beautiful words written by Ken’s favorite musician (who we actually ran into a few days before our wedding in Aspen), and the wedding day displayed exactly that; Ken and I, as well as everyone around us and how we were all Connected by Love.

What is your best memory? The dance floor was on fire that night, everyone was dancing, I mean every single person, smiling and dancing! At the end of the night, our send off ended with us taking a ride around Aspen in our flower decorated Pedi Cab. We blasted good ole rock n roll and sang at the top of our lungs! Perfect strangers were cheering and shouting as we barreled by them! Our pedicab driver was so much fun!

Another favorite moment from our wedding day took place at the top of the mountain on the wedding deck. During the entire ceremony, the rain was holding off just on the edge of the valley, and the thunder was adding a natural musical acoustic to the scene. Just as we began to exchange our vows, the clouds cleared and the sun peered through; it’s as if God cleared a window so that all of our loved ones in heaven could look down on us and watch the beautiful event.

Elizabeth Campbell, Do you have any advice for a bride planning a destination wedding? The dance floor was on fire that night, everyone was dancing, I mean every single person, smiling and dancing! At the end of the night, our send off ended with us taking a ride around Aspen in our flower decorated Pedi Cab. We blasted good ole rock n roll and sang at the top of our lungs! Perfect strangers were cheering and shouting as we barreled by them! Our pedicab driver was so much fun!

Don’t let anyone’s advice dictate the choices you make for your wedding. Choose the things you love without hesitation because they make you happy. If they make you happy today, chances are they will make you happy 50 years from now when you look back at your photos and video!

Do you have any additional thoughts or photos you would like to share with us?
